history
In the Middle Ages, the main town in the area was today's district of Ceserana. Today's main town Fosciandora was first mentioned in the 15th century. Due to its location between Lucca and Modena and above the Serchio Valley, the place was the scene of disputes between the Lucchese and the Estonian family in the 15th and 17th centuries . Remains of fortifications in the village of Lupinaia and the Rocca di Ceserana fortress are evidence of this. The community in its current form did not emerge until the 19th century.
