Sabaneta is a Venezuelan medium- sized town in the state of Barinas . Mayor of the city is Aníbal Chávez, brother of Hugo Chávez . The town of Sabaneta and its municipality had 27,850 inhabitants in 1990. It was founded in 1787 by Juan de Alhama .
Sabaneta is the birthplace of the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez .
