Sabina Schautzer

Sabina Schautzer (born September 26, 1958 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( Greens ) and employee in quality management. Schautzer is a councilor in the city of Villach and was a member of the Carinthian state parliament from 2013 to 2018 .

education and profession

Schautzer was born in Vienna and grew up in the Weinviertel . Between 1972 and 1975 she graduated from the economic women's vocational school in Vienna and then switched to a medical-technical college from 1975 to 1976. She then worked between 1977 and 1981 as an assistant at the Center for Mass Communication in Austria, Film, Radio, and TV, and from 1981 to 1983 she worked as an assistant at the media academy for young journalists. She also worked in the editorial office between 1983 and 1986 and worked as an employee for the weekly magazine "Gegenwart". As a result, she moved to Carinthia for private reasons in 1986 and in the same year became an employee in quality management at Infineon in Villach.

Politics and functions

According to her own statements, Schautzer was politically influenced by her father. Although he was not a party member, he was a supporter of Bruno Kreisky and took his daughter with him to the May Day parade, for example . As a result, Schautzer was also fascinated by Che Guevara in her youth . In 1989, Schautzer got involved in a citizens' initiative that opposed the demolition of the Gösser site in Villach. Gradually, she docked with the Villach Greens, where she has also represented the Greens on the local council since 2003. Within the party, she has also been the spokeswoman for the Villach Green Party and a member of the extended state board since 2009. In the state elections in 2013 , Schautzer ran for first place on the list in state electoral district 3 (Villach) and fifth on the state list. After the Greens in the constituency increased their results by around 9 percent and thus more than doubled, the Greens succeeded in winning a basic mandate for the first time, which allowed Schautzer to move into the state parliament with a direct mandate. She was sworn in as a member of the Carinthian state parliament on March 28, 2013 and became a member of the committee for economy, trade, tourism, agriculture and forestry, art and culture.
