Sabrina van der Ley

Sabrina van der Ley (* 1967 in Cologne ) is a Dutch art historian , curator and art manager . She heads the Museet for samtidskunst in Oslo .

Life

Sabrina van der Ley grew up in Cologne and studied art history, English and German there; she completed her studies in 1998. During her studies she worked in galleries in Europe and the USA from 1990. From 1994 to 1997 she was managing director of the Society for Modern Art at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne. In 1997 she went to Berlin and was custodian of the Hoffmann private collection of art collectors Rolf and Erika Hoffmann until 1999. In 2000 she became artistic director of the Art Forum Berlin . In 2002 she founded the European Art Projects with Markus Richter and Anne Maier. From December 2008 she was curator of the Galerie der Gegenwart at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Since May 2011 she has been director of the Museet for samtidskunst (Museum of Contemporary Art) at the National Museum Oslo .

She is married to the former gallery owner and current curator Markus Richter (* 1964). Together they curated the exhibitions "Ideal City - Invisible Cities" and "Megastructure Reloaded" as part of the exhibition and research project "Utopia Revisited".
