Sacrificium is a death metal band from Germany who made their breakthrough with the album Cold Black Piece Of Flesh and which has become an important part of the metal scene . Musically, in addition to classic death metal, the band also serves more melodic passages in sections, while the lyrics reflect their personal experiences and opinions as Christians.

history

The band's roots lie in the band “Hardway”, in which Sebastian Wagner and Oliver Tesch found each other. Musically, "shallow" pop-rock music was produced. That changed when in 1991 Markus Hauth joined the drums as a guest musician. pop / rock became hard rock. In 1992 a. a. conducted a tour to Amsterdam, Holland. There one stepped u. a. in the legendary STEIGER 14 boat behind Amsterdam Central Station. In 1993, Hardway changed to “Corpus Christi” and the music style changed to Thrash Metal band. However, the development towards Death Metal quickly set in and shortly after a demo recorded in early 1994, the band name was changed to "Sacrificium".

After a few line-up changes, the second demo was finally released in 1996, accompanied by the demo Mortal Fear in 1998 . Despite good criticism, the band stagnated, which led to the departure of the singer Roman Wagner in 2000. Live performances continued to be played in the meantime. B. with Extol or My Darkest Hate , but these only with emergency casts until finally the second guitarist Claudio Enzler took over the vocals and thus the growling . Ulrike Uhlmann stepped in for the vacant position on bass.

In 2002 the Whirlwind Records label released the band's highly criticized debut album, Cold Black Piece of Flesh , which was followed by a tour with the band "brain [faq]".

After the second album Escaping the Stupor should have been released in early 2005, there were delays and a change to the Greek label Black Lotus Records , which Escaping the Stupor presented to the public at the end of the same year. Since "Escaping the stupor" the band played with big names in the scene like: Dismember, Unleashed, Hatesphere, The Black Dahlia Murder and others. a. After some problems during the recording, the band was about to break up in early 2013 and guitarist Oliver Tesch left the band and was replaced by Wolfgang Nillies. In November 2013, the current record "Prey for your gods" was released on the German label Whirlwind Records and received very good reviews (including Rock Hard 8/10, Legacy 13/15).
