Sadok Mokaddem ( Arabic الصادق المقدم, DMG aṣ-Ṣādiq al-Muqaddam ; * April 24, 1914 in Tunis ; † 1993 ) was a Tunisian diplomat and politician of the Socialist Destur Party .

Life

Mokaddem was originally a member of the Destur party and became Minister of Justice in the government of Prime Minister Tahar ben Ammar on August 7, 1954 . He held this ministerial office until a cabinet reshuffle on September 7, 1955 and then took over the post of Minister of Health, which he held until the end of Tahar ben Ammar's term of office on April 11, 1956. He then acted initially as ambassador to Egypt , before becoming Foreign Minister successor to Habib Bourguiba , who was elected President of the Tunisian Republic , in its presidential government on July 29, 1957 . He held this position until August 29, 1962 and was replaced by Mongi Slim .

Subsequently, Mokaddem held the post of ambassador to France from 1962 to 1964 . After his return to Tunisia, he succeeded Jallouli Farès as President of the National Assembly in 1964 and held this office for 17 years until he was replaced by Mahmoud Messadi in 1981.
