The Saint Andrews Bay ( English for St Andrew's Bay is) a 3km wide bay on the north coast of South Georgia . It is just south of Mount Skittle .
Its discoverer is probably the British navigator James Cook , who in 1775 headed for the waters around South Georgia on his second South Seas voyage. The name has been established at least since 1920, partly in the abbreviated form St. Andrews Bay . The naming background has not survived. The apostle Andreas could be the namesake .
