Career

Sajjad Anoushiravani, a 1.92 meter tall and 150 kg heavy athlete, first appeared on the international weightlifting stage in 2010. At this point he was already 26 years old. For this unusually late start of an international weightlifting career, the fact that there has been an unusual range of excellent weightlifters, especially in super heavyweight, in Iran for many years contributed in the first place.

In September 2010 he started at the World Championships in Antalya and came in 5th place with a duel of 426 kg (191-235). The winner of this championship was his compatriot Behdad Salimikordasiabi , with whom he also got to do in the following competitions. In November 2010 Sajjad Anoushiravani took 3rd place at the Asian Games in Guangzhou // China with 427 kg (195-232) and won his first medal at an international championship.

In 2011 he increased at the World Championships in Paris in a duel to 439 kg (198-241) and was behind Behdad Salimikordasiabi, who came in a duel to 464 kg (214-250), on the 2nd place. In the individual disciplines of tearing and pushing, he won a bronze and a silver medal.

At the Asian Championships 2012 Sajjad Anoushiravani reached in a duel 431 kg (193-238) and thus took 3rd place. He was in excellent shape at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. He increased there in a duel to 449 kg (204-245) and thus won behind Behdad Salimikordasiabi, 455 kg (208-247), the silver medal. He referred the Russian Ruslan Albegow , who came to 448 kg (208-240), by his good shock performance on the 3rd place.

At the 2013 World Cup, he was not used because of differences with the Iranian Weightlifting Association.
