The Salinensee is a lake in Bad Dürrheim . It is divided into the eastern small salt lake and the western large salt lake . It was artificially created in 1838 by damming the Silent Musel , which has flowed through it ever since. The lake originally served the Bad Dürrheim saltworks , then as a fire fighting water reservoir , and from 1928 to 1960 as a lido. Today it is used for flood protection and characterizes a popular local recreation area in the spa town of Bad Dürrheim. It has a floating stage on which u. a. Theatrical performances take place.
