Salisbury Island ( Inuktitut : Akulliq ) is an uninhabited island of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago in the Qikiqtaaluk region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut .
It is located on the Hudson Strait south of the Foxe Peninsula . Neighboring Nottingham Island is 15 miles southwest of Salisbury Island.
Their land area is 804 square kilometers. The highest point on the island reaches a height of 503 meters. Salisbury Island is 29 miles long and 14 miles wide.
The island was named after the English city of Salisbury .
