Salko Bukvarević

Salko Bukvarević (born April 20, 1967 in Gornje Hrasno , Kalesija municipality ; † July 29, 2020 in Sarajevo ) was a Bosnian geoscientist and politician ( SDA ).

Life

Bukvarević studied at the Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering of the University of Tuzla , where he obtained a master's degree in 2004 and a doctorate in 2011 . From 2012 he worked for the public utility company Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine , where he was responsible for investments in mining. He was also an associate professor in his faculty.

He was a founding member of the paramilitary Patriotska liga , which later merged into the Armija Republike Bosne i Hercegovine , for which he participated in the Bosnian War until 1995 .

He is one of the founders of the SDA in Tuzla , from 1996 to 1999 he was chairman of the SDA youth organization and a member of the party executive committee, then from 2003 to 2015 chairman of the SDA local association in Tuzla. From 1997 to 2006 he was chairman of the Bosanski Kulturni Centar Tuzla cultural center .

From 2007 to 2010 he was a member of the parliament of the Canton Tuzla . From 2015 until his death he was Minister for War Veterans in the government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .

On June 22, 2020, Bukvarević tested positive for COVID-19 . In mid-July, his condition worsened and he was admitted to the Sarajevo University Hospital, on July 28, 2020, he was put on a ventilator . He died shortly afterwards at the age of 53. He was married and had two children.
