First ascent by locals

The Salober is a 2088  m high grass mountain in the Allgäu Alps . It is located northeast of the Laufbacher Eck .

The name probably comes from the Latin saluber 'healthy, cheap, beautiful' (also scenic).

There is no marked path leading to the Salober. It can be reached without a path from the Feldalpe . This climb requires a head for heights and surefootedness. Occasionally, the ascent of the Salober takes place in the course of crossing the entire ridge from the gable over the Berggächtle to the Laufbacher Eck by experienced mountaineers (difficulty: III ).

The botany of the Salober is as rich as that of the other Allgäu grass mountains .
