Solomon II of Constance (* before 876; † December 23, 889 ) was Bishop of Constance from 875/76 to 889 .

Life

Solomon was a nephew of Bishop Solomon I. He was probably brought up by the later Archbishop of Mainz Liutbert . He was probably elected Bishop of Constance at the end of 875, and was first mentioned in 876 in a certificate from Charles III. Already at the beginning of his term of office, Solomon can be identified in the vicinity of Ludwig the German . He was often active in the service of the king, for example he traveled in 876/77 876/77 on behalf of Charles III. to the Luxeuil monastery . In 876 he was a legate of the emperor and probably belonged to King Arnulf's court orchestra . His special care was given to the Rheinau monastery ; a visitation trip through his diocese is documented for the year 877.
