Solomon III von Konstanz (* around 860; † January 5, 919 or 920) was Bishop of Konstanz from 890 to 919/920 and abbot of St. Gallen .

He was the great-nephew of Bishop Solomon I of Constance († 871) and brother Waldo von Freising . The student Isos and Notkers des Stammler became bishop of Constance and abbot of St. Gallen in 890 and, alongside his patron and friend Hatto of Mainz, played an important role in the history of the East Franconian empire through wisdom and ambition.

From 909 he was chancellor for Ludwig the child and his successor Konrad I. He had a great influence by name on Konrad I and persuaded him to obey the Swabian messengers Berchthold and Erchanger , with whom he was in feud and who had captured him in 914 Assumption of ducal dignity and disobedience to have 917 executed. Solomon died in January 919 or 920.

In the year 890 he had collected an important formula book (sample collection of document formulas and letters) (edited by von Dümmler, Leipz. 1857); There are also two poetic epistles by him to Bishop Dado of Verdun on the death of his brother and the misfortune of the fatherland.
