Salomon Lubelski (* 1902 in Warsaw , † probably 1941 in the Lublin concentration camp ) was a Polish mathematician who founded the journal Acta Arithmetica with Arnold Walfisz . His field of work was number theory .

Life

Lubelski was born in Warsaw in 1902 and studied mathematics there. He received his doctorate from the University of Warsaw and was closely associated with the university in his work. In 1935 he founded Acta Arithmetica with Arnold Walfisz . In 1939 he became a professor at the Pedagogical University in Białystok . After the city was occupied by the German Wehrmacht, he was imprisoned in the Lublin (Majdanek) concentration camp and probably died there in 1941. Lubelski wrote 19 mathematical articles and a draft of a book entitled Number Theory . This draft was kept by the number theorist Johannes van der Corput and later checked for new results.
