The Saluta Rocks are a group of reef rocks off the western end of South Georgia . They are located 1.5 km east of Laurie Point .
Lieutenant Commander John Miller Chaplin (1889-1977) named her in the course of the British Discovery Investigations as Mutt and Jeff . The South Georgia Survey found this designation misleading in the course of a survey between 1955 and 1956, since it is not just two rocks. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1958 after the transport ship Saluta , which was in service for the South Georgia Whaling Company for many years .
