Salwa Houmsi (born July 10, 1996 in Berlin-Kreuzberg ) is a German presenter , journalist and DJ from Berlin .

Life

Salwa Houmsi was born to a German mother and a Syrian father. In 2015 she started working for the online hip-hop magazine Splash! Likes to write and u. a. on the Splash! To conduct festival video interviews. In the same year she started working as a reporter for the Berlin radio station Radio Fritz from the RBB . Since January 2017 she has moderated the weekly music series Neu & Gut there and can also be heard regularly in the daily program. Also in January 2017 she started working as a presenter for the investigative web video format Jäger & Collector from funk / ZDF . Since 2017 she has also been working as a DJ.

Salwa Houmsi won the International Music Journalism Award in 2018 for her Jäger & Collector contribution "Women in Pop - Where is Equal Rights?" In January 2019, on the occasion of the announced R. Kelly Germany shows, together with the Berlin DJ duo Hoe_Mies, she launched the petition #rkellystummschalt in order to show solidarity with the women affected by sexual violence.

Salwa Houmsi, along with reporters Eva Schulz and Florian Prokop, is a member of the Snapchat new channel upright from Funk. Here users can interactively ask the reporters questions.

Since 29 August 2019 she moderated the Spotify podcast Before million .
