The salt-foot trefoil ( Lotus tenuis ), and narrow-leaf bird's-foot trefoil called, is a locally rare plant species from the genus foot trefoil ( Lotus ) within the subfamily of the Pea family (Faboideae).
description
The mostly highly branched salt horn clover is about 20 to 40 cm tall and has a pithy, narrow-tube and not hairy stem. Its fingered leaves are fivefold. The leaflets of the middle and upper stem leaves are lanceolate in shape and taper to a point. They are about 5 to 8 times as long as they are wide. Usually 1 to 6 fragrant single flowers form the inflorescence. The petals are 7 to 12 mm long. The calyx is inclined by small teeth on the bud. Between the top two there is a blunt bay, which is shorter than the calyx tube.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 12.
Occurrence
The salt-tolerant salt horn clover occurs on wet, often temporarily flooded meadows and in damp ruderal areas. It has its main occurrence in salt plant corridors, crawl and step lawns and on wet meadows. In terms of plant sociology, its main occurrence is in the order Agrostietalia stoloniferae and the Molinion caeruleae association. It can also be found in the association Armerion maritimae together with the beach carnation .
It is widespread in places on the German coasts, while it is rare in the interior. Its distribution is not limited to Europe. It also occurs as far as West Asia. In many federal states, its stocks are currently threatened by the destruction of their habitats, by the fallowing of extensively used meadows and by the failure to flood salt marshes and marshes. That is why it is also on the red list of endangered vascular plants in some federal states.
ecology
The flowers are pollinated by insects . The fruits are self-spreading ( autochoric ).
