The Peretschyn Rajon (Ukrainian Перечинський район / Peretschynskyj rajon ; Russian Перечинский район / Peretschinski rajon ) was an administrative unit in the far west of Ukraine and belonged to the Transcarpathian Oblast .

geography

The Rajon was in the northwest of the Transcarpathian Oblast. It bordered in the north on Velykyj Beresnyj Raion , in the northeast on Wolowets Raion , in the east on Svalyava Raion , in the southeast on Mukachevo Raion , in the southwest on Uzhhorod Raion and in the west for a short distance on Slovakia .

It was located in the Carpathian Forest and was traversed by the Ush , Turja and Ljuta rivers.

history

The administrative unit was established on January 22, 1946 as Okrug Peretschin , in 1953 the Okrug was then converted into Peretschyn Rajon . As part of the administrative-territorial reform in 2020, the Rajon was dissolved, and its area has since formed the central part of the new Uzhhorod Rajon .
