Peretschyn (Ukrainian Перечин ; Russian Перечин / Peretschin , Czech and Slovak Perečín or older Perečany , Hungarian Perecseny ) is a city in the Ukraine in the Transcarpathian Oblast .
The city with about 7,000 inhabitants is the administrative seat of the Peretschyn Rajon named after the place and is located near the border with Slovakia at the confluence of the Ush and Turja rivers in the Carpathian Mountains . The regional road R39 leads past the village from Uzhhorod to Sambir , which crosses the Ushok pass in the north .
On 11 October 2016, the city was the center of the newly established municipality Perechyn (Перечинська міська громада / Peretschynska miska hromada ) to this are also the four villages Saritschowo (Зарічово) Simer (Сімер) Simerky (Сімерки) and Worotschowo (Ворочово ), until then it formed the city council of the same name.
history
The site was mentioned in writing in 1427 for the first time and belonged until 1918 and 1939 - 1945 for Hungary (in Ung County ) and was 1918 - 1939 / 1945 as Perečany a part of Czechoslovakia . It then came to the Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic , received urban-type settlement status on May 30, 1947 , has been part of Ukraine since 1991 and was an urban-type settlement until June 11, 2004, when it was granted city charter .
