Tyachiv ( Ukrainian Тячів ; Russian Тячев Tjatchew , Ruthenian Тячево , Hungarian Técső , Romanian Teceu Mare , Slovak Tacovo or Ťačová , yiddish טעטש Tejtsch , German Großteutschenau ) is a city in the Transcarpathian Oblast in western Ukraine on the River Tisza . It is the administrative center of the Tyachiv Raion .
On August 21, 2015. the city to the center of the newly established municipality Tyachiv (Тячівська міська громада / Tjatschiwska miska hromada ) to this are also the four villages Lasy (Лази) Okruhla (Округла), Ruske Pole (Руське Поле) and Tjatschiwka (Тячівка), until then it formed the town council of the same name together with the village of Tyachivka .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1329 as Thechew (Teutschau), the name formation suggests that the place was founded in the 11th century by German settlers. He was part of the Máramaros County in the Kingdom of Hungary until 1919 , then came to Czechoslovakia until 1939/1945 and finally officially to the Soviet Union in 1946. On May 30, 1947, Tyachiv was given the status of an urban-type settlement, and in 1961 it received city rights.
The population was around 9,800 in 2001 and around 11,000 in 2004.
