Robert Doerr

Robert Doerr (born November 1, 1871 in Técsö ; † January 6, 1952 in Basel ) was a Swiss physician of Austro-Hungarian origin.

Robert Doerr was born on November 1, 1871 in Técsö as the son of Moritz Doerr from Vienna and Dujardin, who was born in Mina. Doerr began studying medicine in Vienna , which he finished with a doctorate in 1897 . As a result, Robert Doerr worked as a military doctor in Bosnia , most recently in the position of senior staff doctor .

In 1909 habilitated Doerr off in 1912 as the University of Vienna, where he Associate Professor of General and Experimental Pathology taught. In 1919 he accepted a call as full professor for hygiene and microbiology and director of the Hygiene Institute at the University of Basel . Robert Doerr held these positions until 1943.

In addition, Robert Doerr acted as co-editor of the "Handbuch der Virusforschung" from 1938 , from 1939 as editor of the first virological journal "Archive for the entire virus research" and from 1947 as editor of the series "Immunity Research - Results and Problems in Individual Representations" .

The microbiologist and immunologist Robert Doerr wrote, among other works on Pappataci fever , dengue fever , herpes , avian influenza , allergies and anaphylaxis .

Robert Doerr married Bertha Marie in 1924, the daughter of Johannes Herzog from Basel. He died on January 6, 1952, two months after he had turned 80 in Basel.
