Wyschkowo (Ukrainian Вишково ; Russian Вышково , German seldom Wissk, Wischkowo , Slovak Výškovo nad Tisou , Hungarian Visk , Romanian Văşcova ) is an urban-type settlement in western Ukraine ( Transcarpathian Oblast , Khust district to the south-east of the city of Khust south-east) .

The place with about 8,000 inhabitants is located in the valley of the Tisza near the border with Romania.

The settlement council municipality includes the towns of Modjorosch (Модьорош) Rakosch (Ракош) Shayan (Шаян) and Jabluniwka (Яблунівка).

history

The place was first mentioned in writing in 1281 as Visk .

In 1910 the place in the Kingdom of Hungary in Máramaros County had 4,839 inhabitants, of whom 3,871 were Hungarians, 871 Ruthenians and 126 Germans. After the end of the First World War it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia (as part of the Carpathian Ukraine ) and was ceded to the USSR after the end of the Second World War . In 1976 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement .
