Zhdeniievo (Ukrainian Жденієво ; Russian Ждениево , Slovak Žďeňovo / Ždeňová , Hungarian Szarvasháza ) is an urban-type settlement in the Western Ukraine ( Zakarpattia Oblast , Raion Volovets ) north of the city Svalyava .
The place with about 1100 inhabitants is located in the valley of the river Schdeniwka (Жденівка) and together with the village of Sbyny (Збини) forms a district council.
history
In 1910 the place was in the Kingdom of Hungary in Bereg County , the majority of the inhabitants were Ruthenians. After the end of the First World War it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia (as part of the Carpathian Ukraine ) and was ceded to the USSR after the end of the Second World War . In 1981 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement .
