Sami Buzoli

Sami Buzoli is a former Yugoslav amateur bantamweight boxer, two-time European runner-up and bronze medalist at the 1982 World Cup.

Boxing career

He boxed for Radnički Priština and was Yugoslav junior light flyweight champion in 1977, and Yugoslav vice champion light flyweight in 1978. In 1979 he reached a third place in the Yugoslav Championships in bantamweight. In 1978 and 1979 he also won a bronze medal at the Balkan Bantamweight Championships.

In 1981 he took part in the 24th European Championships in Tampere , where he finished second. He had defeated Sławomir Zapart from Poland (5-0) and Stefan Gertel from Germany (5-0) before losing to Viktor Miroschnitschenko from the Soviet Union (0-5) in the final .

In 1982 he started at the 3rd World Championships in Munich , where he won a bronze medal. He had made it to the semi-finals through victories against Stefan Gertel (4: 1) and Dimitar Slavtschew from Bulgaria (3: 2), where he lost to eventual world champion Floyd Favors from the USA (2: 3).

In 1983 he became Yugoslavian bantamweight champion and again won a bronze medal at the Balkan Championships. In the same year he also took part in the 25th European Championships in Varna . He made it into the final through victories against György Kincses from Hungary (5: 0) and Klaus-Dieter Kirchstein from the GDR (3: 2), where he had to admit defeat to Yuri Alexandrow from the Soviet Union (0: 5) .

When he took part in the 3rd World Cup in Rome in 1983 , he was eliminated in the second round of the tournament against Yuri Alexandrow (0: 5).
