Samir ar-Rifaʿi ( Arabic سمير الرفاعي, DMG Samīr ar-Rifāʿī ; * 1901 in Safed , Northern Palestine; † October 12, 1965 in Amman ) was Prime Minister of Jordan six times .

Life

Samir ar-Rifai was the father or grandfather of the Jordanian Prime Ministers Zaid ar-Rifaʿi and Samir Rifai . Ar-Rifai studied at the American University in Lebanon. In 1924 he headed the Prime Minister's office and in 1933 he became its secretary. The Emir Abdallah ibn Husain I appointed him first Minister of the Interior and then Prime Minister in 1941 . From October 15, 1944 to May 19, 1945 he was Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Transjordan . He performed the same function in the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan, from February 4, 1947 to December 28, 1947, from December 4, 1950 to July 25, 1951, from January 8, 1956 to May 22, 1956, from May 18, 1958 to May 6, 1959 and from March 27, 1963 to April 21, 1963.
