Velvet Sha Rinpoche

Samtsha Rinpoche ( Tib . : zam tsha ) or Samtsha Tshang Rinpoche ( Tib . : zam tsha tshang ) and the like. a. is an incarnation line of the Gelug School of Tibetan Buddhism . Its traditional ancestral home is the Labrang Monastery in Amdo in the Chinese province of Gansu , which was founded in 1710 and is the second important monastery in Amdo after the Kumbum Monastery. Its representatives are among the four so-called four great trulkus (Chinese: Si da huofo ) of the Labrang monastery. A famous representative of the series is the 2nd Samtsha Tshang Jigme Namkha ( 'jigs med nam mkha' ; 1768–1821). It goes back to Ngawang Namkha Sangpo ( ngag dbang nam mkha 'bzang po ; 1690–1749), who comes from the Samtsha ( zam tsha ) area in what is now Luqu County (Luchu) in Gansu Province.
