Mercimekli is a village in the district of Midyat the Turkish province of Mardin . Mercimekli is located about 77 km northeast of the provincial capital Mardin and 10 km north of Midyat. According to the last census, Mercimekli had 258 inhabitants (as of December 2009).
Many Syrian Orthodox Arameans left the village and emigrated to Europe in the 1980s due to the conflict between the Turkish government and the PKK . Today the population consists mainly of Kurds , Mhallami- Arabs and a small part of Aramaeans.
