Samuel Brodbeck

Samuel Brodbeck (born October 8, 1801 in Liestal ; † November 23, 1855 there ) was a Swiss politician and judge .

Life

Brodbeck was born the son of politician Niklaus Brodbeck . After training as a confectioner in Welschland he spent as a journeyman in France to enter 1823 into his father's business in Liestal.

In 1831 Brodbeck sat in the Grand Council in Basel and in 1832 and 1838 in the constitutional council of the newly founded half-canton of Basel-Landschaft . From 1832 to 1834 he was in the district administrator , from 1833 to 1834 a member of the professional ethics committee, from 1834 to 1851 a member of the government and in 1837 also a member of the education council. From 1851 to 1855 he held the office of chief judge.

Brodbeck represented Stephan Gutzwiller's party of order and contributed to the stabilization of the newly founded rural canton.
