Samuel Ryhiner

Samuel Ryhiner (born September 1, 1766 in Basel ; † April 21, 1847 ibid) was a Swiss businessman , lawyer and politician .

Life

Ryhiner was the son of the department store owner Samuel and Rosina, nee Werthemann. He was married twice and as a lawyer and politician he wrote a penal code in 1817. In 1811 he rejected the election of mayor of the city of Basel.

The letters that Ryhiner wrote and received as the Helvetian governor and later president of the appellate court of Basel, u. a. by Peter Ochs , have been preserved.
