Samuel "Sam" Walker (born May 7, 1995 in Sutton in Ashfield ) is an English table tennis player . He won bronze with the team at the 2016 World Cup . He is right-handed and uses the European shakehand grip .

Career

Samuel Walker first achieved international fame when he won gold at the Commonwealth Games in 2014. This success made him the third best English table tennis player behind Liam Pitchford and Paul Drinkhall . In the 2014/2015 season he was with the ASV Grünwettersbach champion of the 2nd Bundesliga and rose. At the Team World Cup in 2016 he beat Poland and France with the English team , before he won bronze with the team after a semi-final defeat against Japan (1-3). It was the first time since 1983 that an English table tennis team had this success at all. Also in 2016 he reached the quarterfinals with the team at the Olympic Games , where the team lost to China . In 2018 he won bronze with the team at the Commonwealth Games .
