Samurai Flamenco ( Japanese サ ム ラ イ フ ラ メ ン コ , Samurai Furamenko ) is an anime television series by the Manglobe studio from 2013. The comedy and action series is about Masayoshi Hazama and his path to becoming a superhero.

action

The 20 year old Masayoshi Hazama ( 羽 佐 間 正義 ) could be happy with his life as an aspiring model with a lavish apartment paid for by his agency. But actually he wants to be a superhero, like the heroes in the television series he has loved since childhood. Therefore, he goes on patrol in his neighborhood at night in a costume as "Samurai Flamenco" to fight the crime. He meets the policeman Hidenori Gotō ( 後 藤 英 徳 ), who is initially perplexed by Masayoshi's activities. But he can't stop him and the two meet again and again - so Masayoshi seeks help or causes trouble, which is why Goto is called. Masayoshi cannot fight either and is beaten up when young people are deployed. However, when he chases after a stolen umbrella and confronts the thief whose umbrella was previously stolen, his sermon to the thief is recorded by passers-by and distributed over the Internet. Gotō slowly realizes how passionately and seriously Masayoshi wants to fight for justice. Samurai Flamenco quickly becomes known and everyone wonders who is behind the mask.

Now that the whole world is looking for his true identity, Masayoshi gets into trouble. Because his modeling career could end his night trips. Jōji Kaname ( 要 丈 治 ), an aged action actor and hero from Masayoshi's childhood, poses as Samurai Flamenco. As a result, the two of them argue who the real hero is; finally Jōji Kaname Masayoshi takes on as a student. He trains him in martial arts and promises him help, but is never there in the really dangerous situations. With Gotō, on the other hand, Masayoshi befriends and finds his support, albeit not unlimited. Gotō even canceled appointments with his girlfriend again and again when Masayoshi needs help.

Masayoshi is also making progress with working as a model. He even gets a role in a superhero series and meets idol trio Mineral Miracle Muse . The brisk Mari Maya ( 真 野 ま り ) is secretly just as enthusiastic about superheroes as Masayoshi and is now taking action as the superhero "Flamenco Girl". She is annoyed that Masayoshi made her superhero debut before. In contrast to the reserved samurai Flamenco, she treats her opponents brutally and initially pushes Masayoshi into the role of the sidekick . But she soon exaggerates her brutality and is harshly approached by Gotō for it. Immediately in love with the policeman, she soon withdraws more. In addition, she can win over her idol colleagues Mizuki Misawa ( 三 澤 瑞希 ) and Moe Morita ( 森田 萌 ) for superheroism. From then on, together they form the “Flamenco Girls”. Meanwhile, Samurai Flamenco receives office equipment converted into weapons by a well-meaning, inventive stationery developer, so that the hero can now go on patrol not only with martial arts, but also with versatile equipment.

In the period that followed, the success of the four superheroes and their friends drove crime back further and further. The police have less and less to do and the heroes, especially Mari, are getting bored. During this time Masayoshi learns that his parents were killed in a robbery and murder. At first he is dejected, but eventually regains courage and motivation. Suddenly a monster appears who fights brutally against the police and can only be defeated by joining forces with Samurai Flamenco. It was sent by King Torture, a new super villain. He always lets new monsters appear, against which the heroes have to fight. He creates these out of people who are disappointed in their life and who want an exciting change. But the fights quickly become routine and the opponents weaker. Finally, Torture lures Mari into a trap and a fight ensues between Samurai Flamenco and Torture. He reveals that he was once as fascinated by superheroes as Masayoshi. But he adores the villains even more, because they have real freedom and power, so that he wanted to be Flamenco's opponent. But he can defeat him with the help of Gotō and the Flamenco Girls. In the end, Masayoshi shows the public his identity with Samurai Flamenco.

As soon as the enemy has been defeated, a huge island appears in Tokyo Bay. Jōji Kaname brings Masayoshi to his base, which has been kept secret from him, and tells him about the new enemy against whom he has built an organization here. The extraterrestrial organization "From Beyond" wants to attack humanity and has also given King Torture the ability to create monsters for this purpose. Now the base is being attacked directly - by a commander from From Beyond. Masayoshi is set to fight the attackers as part of a new team: the Flamengers. But first they have to agree who of them is the leader, as Kaname has promised each of them this position. Finally, under the leadership of Masayoshi, the fight against the first commander of From Beyond takes place, which they win in their combined combat mecha "Flamen Robo". Masayoshi is recognized as the leader of the Flamengers and they continue the fight against From Beyond.

While the opponents are becoming easier and easier to defeat and routine returns, their number continues to increase. Kaname and the Flamengers fear a major attack and warn the president. He is secretly preparing evacuations, but does not want to warn the public yet. Masayoshi thinks this is wrong and is also unable to select a few people from his environment for the evacuation. Finally he makes the warning public and strains the relationship between the Flamengers and the government. When the fight against thousands of From Beyond attackers soon begins, the defenders are initially overwhelmed. But Kaname comes to the aid of many superheroes from all over the world, so that the heroes are victorious in the end. The final assailant wears the face of Masayoshi and kills himself.

Some time after the attack, the police suddenly take action against the superheroes. They are accused of orchestrating all the attacks in order to take power themselves. The Flamengers and all other heroes are captured, only Masayoshi, who is wanted as the leader of the conspiracy, can escape. At first he doubts his heroism and does not know where to go. But when he is helped by a homeless man who was once rescued by Masayoshi as a samurai flamenco, he takes courage and asks Gotō for help.
