San Andrés de Giles is the capital of the Partido San Andrés de Giles of the same name . The city is located in the northwest of the Argentine province of Buenos Aires , around 103 kilometers from the capital Buenos Aires . It has 16,243 inhabitants (as of 2010, INDEC ).

San Andrés de Giles is located in the fertile Pampa plain at the intersection of Ruta Nacional 7 and Ruta provincial 41.

history
November 30, 1806 is the official founding date of San Andrés de Giles. On this day the first Catholic mass took place in a newly built chapel, the patron saint of which is the Apostle Andrew ( San Andrés ). Don Pedro de Giles y Remón donated the land on which the chapel was built . San Andrés de Giles has had city rights since 1937.

Héctor José Cámpora , the 39th President of Argentina, lived in San Andrés de Giles and was mayor of the city from 1944 to 1945. The house where he worked as a dentist is at 787 San Martín.
