San Gregorio Magno alla Magliana Nuova (Latin Sancti Gregorii Magni in Magliana Nova ) is a titular church in Rome .
overview
The parish was established with the decree Neminem sane latet by Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara on December 14, 1963 and assigned to the diocese of Reggio Emilia . On February 21, 2001 the elevation to the title church of the Roman Catholic Church took place by Pope John Paul II. The patron saint is Gregory the Great .
The modern, square church building, which was built according to a design by the architect Aldo Aloysi (and Ernesto Vichi), is made of reinforced concrete, partly in raw concrete with the formwork imprints, and can be assigned to the Brutalist architectural style . Slotted glass windows only provide light in the chancel. Next to the entrance, which is covered with a concrete canopy, a bell tower flanks the building, decorated with a statue of Christ with outstretched arms.
The church is located at 85 Piazza Certaldo in the Roman quarter of Portuense (Magliana Nuova).
