The parish church Parroquia de San Juan Bautista (also: Catedral de la Sierra ) is a parish church in Hinojosa del Duque , a Spanish municipality in the province of Cordoba , Andalusia . The church is dedicated to John the Baptist . It was declared a Monumento Nacional in 1981 .

architecture

The majestic church from the 16th century shows different architectural styles: the portal is in Plateresque style , the nave in flamboyant and the choir Romanesque . Major renovations were made in the 16th century. Hernán Ruiz, el Viejo was the builder of the Plateresque style. The work was completed by Hernán Ruiz, el Joven . The central nave is designed in the Mudejar style and has a unique coffered ceiling. The side aisles are covered with Gothic cross vaults. The baptistery is the most interesting chapel in the magnificent structure. It is designed in the Plateresk style. The tower is in Gothic style, it was completed at the end of the 16th century and is very similar to the tower of the Mezquita-Catedral de Córdoba, which was built a few decades later.
