The single-nave building made of local slate was built in the 13th century in the Romanesque style. The architecture of the small ocher-colored chapel shows elements of Pisan art of the Middle Ages . Corsica was then under the sovereignty of the Archbishop of Pisa. The chapel is only slightly structured on the facades, its decoration consists mainly of the reliefs above the portals.

Both the reliefs in the tympanum of the west and south doors, as well as the sculptures in the area of the apse and the popular frescoes of the 16th century inside the nave are original and are reminiscent of North Corsican works in Aregno and Murato . Above the western front is an espadaña . The temptation of Eve is depicted above the west gate . There is a remarkable ornamental wickerwork above the south gate, including a depiction of a snake or dragon killer with a dagger.

Nearby is the Clos San Quilico winery , which has belonged to the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée of the Corsican wine region Patrimonio since 1968 .

In the south of Corsica there is another chapel dedicated to San Quilico (Corsica Quiliciu). San Quilico de Montilati dates back to the 12th century and is located in Montilati, above the road between Figari and Sotta .
