Sanavirón Iceland is an island in the group of Debenham Islands before Fallières coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located in front of the mouth of the Northeast Glacier in Marguerite Bay, southeast of Audrey Island .
Participants in an Argentine expedition carried out from 1950 to 1951 mistakenly identified them as two islands and named them Islotes Sanavirón . It is named after the Sanavirón tugboat , which was used in numerous Argentinean research trips to the Antarctic from 1948 and was used for surveying work in this area. A hydrographic surveying unit of the Royal Navy cleared up the mistake in 1966 and the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee adapted the designation as a single island accordingly in 1971.
