Sandra Künzi

Sandra Künzi (* 1969 ) is a Swiss author, musician and spoken word performer .

Career

Künzi grew up in the canton of Schwyz . She studied from 1993 to 2001 as a student trainee jurisprudence at the Universities of Zurich , Hamburg and Bern . During her studies she drew cartoons for the magazine Nebelspalter and worked as a vocational school teacher. She then worked as a lawyer for ten years .

Sandra Künzi is a self-taught artist and orientates herself on punk . She writes and speaks about political and social issues such as equal pay between men and women, the Swiss national strike and everyday situations that drift into the absurd.

Künzi is committed to feminist issues. She is a co-founder of the Tittanic series of authors (since 2005). As a protest against the fact that the literary prizes were mostly given to men, she founded the Almösen association with other Bernese authors in 2007 . Since 2014 she has organized and curated the Bern Reading Festival Aprillen .

Sandra Künzi also works as a radio writer and was a guest on the radio.

She lives in Bern and is the mother of one son.
