The Sandstein-Spessart (sometimes also Sandsteinspessart ) is a natural area of the main unit Odenwald, Spessart and Südrhön (main unit 14). By far the largest part of the natural area is in Hesse and Bavaria , some parts are also in Baden-Württemberg . The sandstone Spessart leads the number 141 in the systematics of the manual of the natural spatial structure of Germany . The sandstone Spessart extends in its entirety east of Aschaffenburg between the Vogelsberg in the north and the Main valley in the south.
