The FFH area Sandstein Spessart is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-6222-341) in the Main-Tauber district in the Franconian north-east that has been designated by regulation of the Stuttgart regional council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive) Baden-Württemberg . The FFH area is part of the European Natura 2000 network of protected areas .
description
The FFH area comprises mixed forest areas with spring areas, fields , meadows and wet locations with sandy soils in the floodplain of the Main Valley , extensively used grassland (partly orchards) in the Wildbachtal and a quarry near Ebenheid .
Protection purpose
The following habitat types according to Annex I of the Habitats Directive occur in the area:
- Limestone (semi) dry lawns and their stages of shrubbery (* orchid-rich stands)
- Species-rich bristle grass lawn
- Moist tall herbaceous vegetation
- Lean, lowland hay meadows
- Alder, ash and softwood alluvial forests
- Silicate rocks with crevice vegetation
- Grove beech forests
- Nutrient-poor to moderately nutrient-rich still waters with beach lions or dwarf rush communities
- Natural and near-natural nutrient-rich still waters with spawning or frog-bite communities
