The FFH area Unteres Taubertal is a protected area (protected area identifier DE-6223-311) in the Main-Tauber district in the Franconian north-east of Baden - Baden, registered by the Stuttgart regional council in accordance with Directive 92/43 / EEC (Fauna-Flora-Habitat Directive). The FFH area includes the Main near Wertheim and the Tauber from Niklashausen to its confluence (near Wertheim in the Main) with a valley rich in structure and wooded slopes, mountain peaks in the Lower Muschelkalk near Dertingen with grass remains and juniper heaths , and a quarry in the Buntsandstein near Dietenhan Kalktuffquelle .
