Sankarakhiri

The Sankarakhiri Mountains ( Thai : เทือกเขา สัน กา รา คีรี , pronounced [ tʰʉ̂ak-kʰăo săn-kaːraː-kiːriː ], other spelling: San Kala Khiri , or Sankala Khiri) is the northern part of the Titiwangsa mountain range , the most important mountain landscape on the Malay Peninsula that forms a natural border between the west coast and the east coast. The Titiwangsa mountain range runs through the provinces of Songkhla , Pattani and Narathiwat in the south of Thailand and across the state border to Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia . The highest mountain in the Sankarakhiri mountain range, Ulu Titi Basah ( ยู ลู ติ ติ บา ซา ห์ ) with a height of 1533 m, is located on the border between Yala and Perak .

Nature reserves

There are several national parks and nature reserves in the mountains:

  • San Kara Khiri National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ สัน กา รา คีรี ) - Size: 214 km², the headquarters are in Songkhla Province.
  • Budo Su-ngai Padi National Park ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ บู โด - สุไหงปาดี ) - size 341 km², the headquarters are in the province of Narathiwat.
  • National Park Namtok Sai Khao ( อุทยานแห่งชาติ น้ำตก ทรายขาว ) - size 110 km², the headquarters are in the province of Pattani.
  • Hala-Bala Wildlife Park - Two-part park (Hala and Bala sections) in the south of Narathiwat Province, size 434 km², popular with bird watchers.
