Sant'Atanasio a Via Tiburtina (Latin: Sancti Athanasii ad viam Tiburtinam ) is a church in Rome .
overview
The parish was established on March 11, 1961 with the decree of Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara Neminem sane and the church was consecrated. Pope John Paul II elevated the church to a titular church of the Roman Catholic Church on June 28, 1991 . Patron saint is St. Athanasius .
The modern church building was created in the 1950s based on a design by the engineer Ernesto Vichi. The structure of the church is based on a Greek cross . The Eucharistic symbols of blood and wine, St. Athanasius and the Holy Spirit are depicted in four window facades . The main altar made of granite in a semicircular arrangement shows the Last Supper in the background . In the side surfaces there is a representation from the 18th century of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and a bronze figure of John the Baptist next to the baptismal font .
The church is located in the Roman district of Pietralata in Via Achille Benedetti 11 .
