Santa Cruz is a concelho (district) in the Cape Verde Islands . It is located in the northeast of the island of Santiago about 25 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Praia and belongs to the administrative area of ​​the Ilhas de Sotavento archipelago . In 2010 Santa Cruz had about 27,000 residents. The main town of the district is Pedra Badejo with around 10,000 inhabitants.

Like many districts on the Cape Verde Islands, Santa Cruz lives mainly from tourism . There are many holiday resorts here that have been newly built in recent years.
