As part of the local reorganization of Portugal on September 29, 2013, the municipality of Santa Eufémia was merged with São Miguel and Rabaçal to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de São Miguel, Santa Eufémia e Rabaçal . The seat of the new municipality was São Miguel.
