Santa María de Iguácel
The church of Santa María de Iguácel in Larrosa , a district of the municipality of Jaca ( Municipio ) in the province of Huesca of the autonomous community of Aragon , was built in the middle of the 11th century. The church was declared a monument ( Bien de Interés Cultural ).
history
The church was started at the instigation of Count Galindo and completed under his son Sancho Galíndez. In 1072 the work was completed. The tower was added in the 13th or 14th century and decorated inside with Gothic wall paintings. For a long time the church belonged to the monastery of San Juan de la Peña , which owned large estates.
Santa María de Iguácel was extensively renovated between 1976 and 1982.
