Astrid Kleist
Astrid Kleist (* 1971 in Hamburg ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran pastor . She is senior pastor at the main church Sankt Jacobi in Hamburg and vice president of the Lutheran World Federation .
Life
Astrid Kleist studied Protestant theology in Bethel, Berlin and Bochum. After an internship in the press and public relations work of the former church district of Alt-Hamburg, she completed her vicariate in the parish of Hamburg-Horn. Since 2003 she has worked as a parish pastor at St. Simeon in Alt-Osdorf.
On 27 February 2013, it was approved by the Synod of the church district Hamburg-east of North Church voted to main pastor at St. Jacobi and Provost Provost for Alster-East. She was introduced to her new office on June 8, 2013 by the bishop and her predecessor Kirsten Fehrs . Astrid Kleist is one of the five main pastors in Hamburg. This office was held in the five Hamburg parishes as early as 1685 and is still unique in Germany today. As provost in the Hamburg-Ost church district , she is responsible for 15 parishes in Winterhude , Barmbek , Horn and Hamm and is the superior of 28 pastors.
In May 2017, Astrid Kleist was elected as one of the seven vice-presidents at the twelfth general assembly of the Lutheran World Federation in Windhoek, Namibia .
