Church district Hamburg-Ost

The Evangelical Lutheran Church District Hamburg-Ost consists of 116 parishes, which are looked after by 270 pastors. The church district has 460,000 parishioners.

The church district is located in the eastern and southern urban area of ​​the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg . It also includes parts of the Schleswig-Holstein districts of Stormarn , Segeberg and Duchy of Lauenburg in the north and east of Hamburg . The church district belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church).

history

The Hamburg-Ost church district was re-established on May 1, 2009. It emerged from the merger of the church districts of Alt-Hamburg, Stormarn and Harburg. The merger was part of the North Elbian church reform, in which the old 27 church districts of the regional church became eleven new church districts.

The church district is promoted and organized under the joint responsibility of the church district synod , church district council and provost . There are currently seven provosts in the church district. The facilities of the church district are spread over four locations.
