Ulrike Murmann (born July 19, 1961 in Kiel ) is a German Protestant theologian and, since 2004, the first woman senior pastor of St. Katharinen in Hamburg and provost in the Hamburg-East church district .

origin

Ulrike Murmann was born as the daughter of the entrepreneur and former employer president Klaus Murmann and his wife Hannelore in 1961 in Kiel as one of five children, one of her brothers is the publisher Sven Murmann . Her uncle Dieter Murmann is an entrepreneur and CDU politician, as is her cousin Philipp Murmann .

education

She studied Protestant theology in Munich , Tübingen and Hamburg . Ulrike Murmann received her doctorate with a thesis on Paul Tillich's theory of sin, published in 2000 under the title Freedom and Alienation .

Act

At the end of the 1980s she was in the province of Misiones in Argentina for half a year , where she took over the management of a community. From 1990 she was pastor of the North Elbian Church . As the parish pastor of St. John's Church in Hamburg, she became press and public relations officer for Hamburg's bishop Maria Jepsen in 2001 .

In 2004 Murmann was elected to the integrated office of main pastor of the main church St. Katharinen and provost for the Propstei Mitte-Bergedorf in the parish of Alt-Hamburg (since 2009 part of the parish of Hamburg-Ost ). With Ulrike Murmann, a woman has been appointed to this office for the first time in the history of Hamburg's senior pastors .

Ulrike Murmann is a member of the University Council of the University of Music and Theater Hamburg and deputy chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the German Business Foundation . Since December 2011 she has also been Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the BürgerStiftung Hamburg .

Private

She is married to the director of the NDR, Joachim Knuth , and has three children. She also works as a writer and columnist.
