Kirsten Fehrs (born September 12, 1961 in Wesselburen ) is a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and has been a bishop in the Hamburg and Lübeck district of the North Elbish Church since November 15, 2011, and of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since Pentecost 2012 . Before that she was provost of the parish of Alt-Hamburg and senior pastor at the main church St. Jacobi since 2006 .

Live and act

Kirsten Fehrs studied Protestant theology from 1981 to 1987 at the University of Hamburg with a focus on "Practical Theology". During her studies, she volunteered in various areas of pastoral care , namely in holiday, hospital and prison chaplaincy.

She completed her vicariate from 1988 to 1990 in Waabs in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district . In December 1990 she was ordained pastor of the North Elbian Church . In the following years she held the parish of the parish Hohenwestedt and was also responsible for the adult education of the parishes in the southern region of the parish of Rendsburg. In 1994 she was appointed to the project pastor's position "Open Educational Work with Adults in the Rendsburg Church District" and in 1997 was appointed head of the "Evangelical Educational Organization of the Rendsburg Church District". This was followed by a teaching position at the University of Zurich (“Church Educational Work as Lifelong Support”) and, in 2000, the appointment to the project pastor of the North Elbian Church for personnel and community development in the parish of Rendsburg as well as organizational and personnel development in the North Elbian Church.

On September 1st, 2006 Kirsten Fehrs took over the integrated office of provost of the parish of Alt-Hamburg and chief pastor at the main church St. Jacobi from chief pastor and provost Karl-Günther Petters .

On June 17, 2011, she was elected by the Synod of the North Elbe Church in the fourth ballot with 97 votes of the 121 synodals present in the Hamburg main church Sankt Michaelis to succeed Maria Jepsen as Bishop of the Hamburg and Lübeck district. Your only opponent was the EKD cultural representative Petra Bahr .

Until she took office on November 15, 2011, the official business was led by Provost Jürgen Bollmann, the acting successor of the resigned Bishop Maria Jepsen. The introductory service was celebrated on November 26, 2011, the day before the first Advent , in Lübeck Cathedral .

The SPD nominated them for the 15th Federal Assembly in 2012 . Kirsten Fehrs has been a member of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany since November 2015 .

Kirsten Fehrs has been married to Pastor Karsten Fehrs since 1990.
